TAX FREE PETROL COST REIMBURSEMENT

THE TAX FREE AMOUNT OF COST REIMBURSEMENT WAS DOUBLED FROM JANUARY 2023

Employers can give this benefit to the employees who live in another city and commute to the workplace by private car. The amount was untouched for ten years. Now, due to the much higher petrol prices, it was revised and updated.

According to a recent government decree, the amount was raised from 15 to 30 HUF/km. It is applicable from January 2023.

A sample: if the employee commutes from 35 km, 21 days a months, he can get 21x35x2x30 = HUF 44,100 tax free petrol cost reimbursement. Note: it is still only a small part of the real petrol cost.

The employer can provide higher reimbursement as well, but it is a taxable benefit.
