Christmas gifts from employer?

Christmas is soon here, and people are thinking about Christmas gifts. Employers often gives Christmas gifts for their employees. General rule in Norway is that all gifts from employer are taxable. But there are some exceptions:

  • the total value of the gifts could be maximum 2 000 NOK. If the value is higher, sum over 2000 NOK will be taxed as a salary.
  • there is also restriction: gift cannot be cash, or something which is easy to switch into cash.
