New regulations concerning fixed term employment contracts

From the end of February there will be 33-month limit for fixed term work contracts.

From 22 of February there will be new restrictions concerning fixed term employment contracts. Total length of one ore more fixed term contracts can be up to 33 months. If work continues beyond 33-month limit, the agreement will be treated as employment contract for indefinite period. The maximum number of separate fixed term contracts is three – the fourth contract would be automatically treated as indefinite contract.

A significant problem is the ambiguity of the new rules. It can result in exceeding the specified limit, and the transformation of existing temporary contracts to permanent contracts. Especially important in this regard should be transitional laws. Unfortunately, they also do not indicate directly, if the contracts from 22 February to 33-month limit should count an employment before that date.
