Extended benefit period for compensation to certain risk groups

The benefit period for the benefits that can be provided to certain risk groups, certain relatives of risk groups and parents of certain recently seriously ill children due to covid-19 is now extended from 90 to 184 days. This after the Riksdag yesterday voted through the government’s twelfth extra amending budget. Compensation can thus be given for all days in the period from 1 July to 31 December 2020.

The period of validity of the regulation on certain sickness benefit for preventive purposes and certain carrier carrier benefit due to covid-19 disease has previously been extended until the end of 2020. The same applies to the period of validity of the regulation on certain temporary parental benefit due to covid-19 disease. The regulations contain provisions on benefits that, due to covid-19, can be provided to certain risk groups, certain relatives of risk groups and parents of certain recently seriously ill children.

The number of days for which each benefit can be provided is now increased from 90 to 184, so that it is possible to receive compensation for the entire period from 1 July to 31 December 2020.
