The Estonian Interior Ministry sent for approval draft amendments to the law on foreigners, which will make it easier for some of them to live and work in the country. It is planned to make a new type of visa for “digital nomads”, that is IT-specialists, financiers and marketers. They carry a nomadic way of life, but at their consumption of goods and services in the country of residence means they have a positive effect on the local economy.
In addition, foreigners will be allowed to work in several companies and change employers without a new residence permit. In the population register, foreigners will indicate their place of residence if they live in the country for at least six months.
Recall that at the beginning of this year, within the framework of the state initiative Startup Estonia, the authorities announced the launch of a startup visa application. They are aimed at entrepreneurs who live outside the EU and want to launch a startup in Estonia, as well as Estonian projects that want to attract foreign employees. Those who already have a company in Estonia can apply for a residence permit within the framework of the program.
