Estonian-Ukrainian economic ties are strengthening

Estonian president Kersti Kaljulaid made an official government visit to Ukraine on 22-24 of May. The visit happens amid increasing economic activity between Ukraine and Estonia. President Poroshenko quoted some statistics at one press conference after negotiations with Mrs. Kaljulaid and said the trade turnover between Ukraine and Estonia increased by 30 % in the span of the last year.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Groysman was active on Twitter during the visit, and said Ukraine is interested in attracting more Estonian investment to Ukrainian businesses. Currently the total investment is about 200 million USD.

Earlier this spring Estonia was briefly placed on the Ukrainian offshore watchlist. This was said to be a misunderstanding of the Estonian corporate income taxation system which taxes only dividends, and Estonia was quickly taken off the list after some diplomatic communications.
