NEW MINIMUM WAGES

Minimum wages are defined – raised – year by year, compensating the inflation and the average increase of salaries in the previous year. There are two kinds of minimum wages in Hungary: one for jobs that do not require any qualification, and one for qualified workers. Both are now raised by 8% from 2019.

 

The minimum wage for an unqualified job in full time is gross HUF 161,000, while that for a job requiring any kind of qualification is HUF 210,600. Most jobs are covered by the minimum wage of skilled workers. If an employee is working less than 40 hours per week, the minimum wage is proportionally less. The new rules apply from 1 January 2020.
