New favorable conditions for employee relocation from non-EU countries

The Lithuanian Parliament has adopted the amendments of legislation establishing more favorable conditions for the transfer of employees and their family members from third countries to Lithuania. The changes of laws were inspired by the situation in Belarus, in order to help Belarusian companies to survive and continue their activity in Lithuania. However, we note that these favorable conditions apply to all investors from third countries too.

The amendments establish that not only highly qualified employees, but also all transferred ordinary employees and their family members could apply for a residence permit in Lithuania. Their qualification or work experience will not be evaluated by the Employment Service, their suitability for work will be decided by the employer.

This mentioned relief will be applied for the investing companies from the third countries, which will undertake to invest at least 1.45 million euros and to employ at least 20 employees in Lithuania. In addition, there is the requirement to pay at least 1,5 average salary to the employees.
