Lithuania, according to the OECD recommendations, has adjusted about six dozen laws, especially in the areas of public enterprise management, anti-corruption, investment promotion and liberalization of the business environment.
The OECD Council confirmed that all 22 OECD committees made positive conclusions on Lithuania's preparation to become a member of the organization. Thus, it was allowed to prepare an agreement on Lithuania's accession to the OECD.
Membership of the OECD is a sign of country's progress and credibility, which will help Lithuania to compete in the global economy more succesfully. Moreoever, the OECD collects data on each country's economic, social, educational, health care systems, also public sector and provides recommendations.
As a member of the OECD, Lithuania will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the most advanced practice and experience accumulated in the member countries, to take over it and increase the efficiency of own economy and public administration.
